Courtesy Pay is an elective service for overdraft protection for debit card transactions. It's a convenient and valuable feature that provides you with the security that your transactions may be covered even if you do not have sufficient funds in your account at the time the transaction posts. 
 

Benefits include:

  • Can help avoid fees and penalties from merchants due to insufficient funds
  • Debit card transactions may be covered at point of sale, even with insufficient funds.
  • Can be used as a tool for unforeseen bills or emergencies when you might be short on cash.
  • Protect your credit score by ensuring payments go through and are made on time.

Additional Information:

  • There is a maximum of 4 overdraft and/or NSF fees (in the aggregate) that may be charged per day, per account-share.
  • You are required to provide your affirmative consent to us to authorize and pay overdrafts resulting from everyday Debit Card transactions.
  • We may or may not authorize and pay overdraft transactions at the Credit Union’s discretion. If an overdraft transaction is not covered by us, your account could be charged a non-sufficient funds $27 fee and may be subject to additional fees imposed by the merchant. 
 
KEMBA can also assist you with overdraft coverage in the following ways, without courtesy pay:
  • Standard overdraft practices that are pre-included with your account.
  • Overdraft protection plans, such as transferring funds from your savings account, if you have one, to your checking account as needed to cover certain transactions, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft protections practices. 





































Disclosures

Please be advised that our standard overdraft practices and/or opting into Courtesy Pay does not guarantee that any transaction that would result in an overdraft of your account will be authorized or paid. When we cover any transaction that results in an overdraft of your account, it is not a loan, line of credit or credit of any type, and your account balance must be restored to a positive balance by you making a deposit(s) into your account promptly (within 10 - 45 days) to rectify the overdraft of your account.

Please note: you can decide at any time to opt out of Courtesy Pay for everyday Debit Card transactions by visiting kemba.org, stopping by any of our branch locations, or calling KEMBA at 614.235.2395 or 800.282.6420, option 4 to speak with a member service representative. If you revoke your consent for Courtesy Pay (opt out), your account may still be covered by our standard overdraft practices and we may continue to cover overdrafts of your account resulting from payment of checks, ACH payments, automatic bill payments, and recurring debit transactions, which in each case may result in an overdraft fee of $27 per transaction that results in an overdraft of your account.
